Since heat presses vary in temperature and pressure, we’ve provided general guidelines below. If this is your first time ordering with us, we recommend ordering a few extra designs to fine-tune the temperature, time, and pressure settings for your specific machine.
1. Pre-Press:
Begin by pre-pressing your garment for a few seconds to remove wrinkles and any moisture trapped in the fabric. This helps ensure a smoother application.
2: First Press:
- Align your transfer in the desired location.
- Press at 300°F for 10 seconds with heavy pressure.
- Important: Do not exceed 300°F as higher temperatures can cause issues with adhesive adhesion.
- You can peel the film hot or cold (for polyester, sometimes it helps to wait 10-15 seconds before peeling).
3. Second Press:
- Cover with Teflon (for a shiny look) or parchment paper (for a matte finish).
- Press at 300°F for 8 seconds.
General Tips:
Ensure firm, even pressure for good adhesion.
Avoid pressing over pockets, seams, buttons, zippers, or any uneven surfaces. Using a pressing pillow can help achieve even pressure in tricky areas.
Polyester/Blend Fabrics:
- Press at 300°F and press 6-8 seconds as these fabrics absorb heat faster.
If the transfer is not adhering, you can press it multiple times, allowing it to cool between presses.
100% Polyester:
- Lower temperature to 250°F-285°F and shorten the press time to 3-8 seconds.
Polyester fabrics may need some tweaking to get the perfect settings, so we recommend practicing to determine the best combination of time, temperature, and pressure.
Household irons or handheld presses will not work for these transfers. You must use an industrial heat press for the best results.
